Vintage Modernist Silver Taxco Mexico Ring
MODERNIST SILVER TAXCO RING
A large and chunky sterling silver Taxco ring made in Mexico and with a Modernist design. The ring is hallmarked on the inside of the band 'MEXICO' '925' and also with the maker's mark which appears to be TE-49.
In the late 1970's Mexico began to use a letter and number system to identify the silversmith; in the letter and number system the first letter identifies a location (T for Taxco, M for Mexico City), the second letter is the first letter of an individual's first or last name of the maker and the number is the number of registration of the maker.
