ANTIQUE MIZPAH SWEETHEART BROOCH
An antique Victorian style 'Mizpah' sweetheart brooch made of gold tone metal with two love hearts and the inscription 'The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent from one another'.
The brooch measures 3.5cm in length is unmarked and stamped with the letters T.J.C on the reverse.
The word Mizpah is from the book of Genesis meaning a bond between loved ones over distance and beyond life, hence these brooches were usually given to a wife or sweetheart often by service men during the war.
Condition: In true antique condition ~ some of the gold has worn away on the front and there is age related patina on the back.
Please study the photos as they show any signs of wear as would be expected with vintage or antique jewellery.
